Terms of Service
Thanks for using StatementSquared. We turn a text-based US bank statement PDF into rows, a balance check, and a CSV or QBO file. We don’t know every person who uploads a statement, so these terms keep the arrangement clear.
When we say “we” or “us”, we mean the people who operate StatementSquared. When we say “you”, we mean the person using the site. When we say “the service”, we mean this website and the conversion it performs.
We may update these terms. When we make a change that matters, we will refresh the date at the top of this page. Using the service after that means you agree to the latest terms. These terms limit our liability. If you break them, we may close the account.
Questions go to support@statementsquared.com. That email is the only way to reach us. We don’t publish a street address or a phone number.
Your account
- The free tryout does not need an account. You get 5 pages in this browser. We do not ask for a card, and we do not sell your data.
- A paid pack creates an account from the email Stripe Checkout collects. Sign-in after that is a magic link to that email. A password is optional. You are responsible for keeping that inbox and any password to yourself. We can’t be responsible for a loss that comes from sharing them.
- You have to be a person. Accounts created by bots are not allowed. Upload statements you are allowed to convert.
- You are responsible for what you upload and for what you do with the file you download.
Payment and refunds
- Paid packs are one-time purchases through Stripe Checkout: $29 for 300 pages, or $79 for 1,200 pages. There is no subscription, no renewal, and no billing cycle. Pages never expire.
- Stripe charges the card. We never see the card number. Prices do not include taxes a government may require. Where a tax has to be collected, Stripe collects it. Otherwise the tax is yours to handle.
- If a charge is wrong, email us before you dispute it with your card issuer. A dispute asks Stripe and your bank to pull the payment back, and that is slower than a refund from us. Emailing first also gives us a chance to put pages back if a conversion took them by mistake.
- Within 7 days of purchase, email us and we will refund the pack in full if you have not used the pages, or if a conversion did not work for you. If a failed conversion took pages, we put those pages back, no matter when it happened. The detail is on the refunds page.
Your files
The PDF is read in memory for that one request and then discarded. We do not store the file, and we do not store the transactions. The CSV and QBO are built in your browser from the result on the page. You keep whatever you download.
A conversion spends pages only after it finds at least one transaction. We refuse a file that is empty, over 8 MB, over 40 pages, not a readable PDF, or a scan with no text layer, and that refusal does not spend pages. The same is true when the file reads but no transactions are found.
Check the figures
Converted figures can contain errors. Check the output against the original statement before you rely on it for accounting or taxes. The balance check is opening balance plus credits minus debits, compared with the closing balance printed on the statement. It is a reading aid, not a sign-off. A layout this version does not read can miss or misread a row. The service is not accounting, tax, or legal advice.
If an OpenRouter key is configured, extracted text can be sent to OpenRouter only when the built-in parser cannot read the layout. Only providers that do not collect or retain prompts are used. A statement the parser can read is not sent. The balance check still runs in our code. With no key, nothing is sent to a model. Either way, you still check the rows.
Ownership
- The statement and the rows you download stay yours. We claim no ownership of them.
- We only handle an upload for long enough to run the conversion you asked for. We do not keep a copy to show anyone else.
- We own the service itself: the site, the software, and the visual design. You don’t get ownership of those by using them, and you may not resell the service or copy the site.
Changes, suspension, and closing an account
- We can change or retire a part of the service. Pages you already bought stay on the account. They are not a subscription we can renew.
- We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we believe is being used to abuse the service or another person. Abuse of anyone answering support email ends the account immediately.
- There is no cancel button, because there is nothing to renew. To close an account and delete what we store, email support@statementsquared.com. What we store, and what deletion removes, is described in the privacy policy.
Liability
You use the service at your own risk. We provide it as is and as available. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or that every figure will be right. We work to keep it up and to fix serious bugs, especially ones that touch security or privacy. We do not promise that every bug will be fixed.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, goodwill, or data, arising from the service or these terms. Our total liability for all claims will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. Some places do not allow these limits. Where they don’t, the limit is the most the law in that place allows.
In short: the rows are a draft until you have checked them against the statement. If you use them without that check, that decision is yours.
